Rolling, Rolling, Rolling...
keep those photos… Probably better if I stop there.  Anyway, business has gone berserk in February, to the point it’s “clear the set” and immediately set up the next shoot.  Cosmetics, wine, more cosmetics, possibly rare earth magnets, etc. So of course the boss decides it’s time to take 5 layers of wallpaper off the walls in the breakfast room so we can paint. ...

Terry Gilliam School of Film: 10 Lessons for...
nevver: Growing up is for losers. Film school is for fools. Auteurism is out. Fil-teurism is in. Put your ideas in a drawer. Take them out as needed. All you’ve really got in life is story. Command the audience with your lens. Nothing can defeat a director who is one with his actors. Surround yourself with improvisers. Directing is not for the faint-of-heart. Or the sane. Be an...

"Cocktails" at the Printer!
Shot a last photo for a self promotional piece called “Cocktails” that will go out to potential clients in the next month or so.  It’s the “Bloody Maria” below.  The book was put together in Lightroom 4.0 and uploaded directly to Blurb, where the prototype is being printed.  I’ll check the sample out and make any changes before printing multiples to be sent out...

Restored Portraits
A friend and client asked me if I could restore and re-frame some portraits of his great grandfather and his family.  Though I don’t normally do that type of work I was interested in checking out the old portraits and seeing what needed to be done.  The originals were very cool, ovals in gilt like frames with curved glass.  They were black and white prints, hand colored.  There was some...

There's Montana, and Nontana!
Oregon is very nice, but… I LOVE MONTANA!  Partly because there’s no better place on earth than a stream with trout in it, and partly because Montana has the Rockies vs. the stray volcano that we have here in Oregon.  The photo is of Livingston, but I also love Bozeman & Missoula where I have really cool cousins.  One in the Forest Service and the other who teaches at Montana...

iPhone Photojojo Lens/Case
An expensive but cool accessory for iPhoneagrphers.  At $250 I’d have to read some reviews, but if they were good I’d have to consider it. http://www.highsnobiety.com/news/2011/11/22/photojojo-iphone-camera-lens-dial-case/

Thirty-six years ago today a fierce gale on Lake Superior sank the huge ore boat, the Edmund Fitzgerald.  All twenty-nine aboard were lost, and we were reminded that we live at nature’s whim. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=wreck+of+the+edmund+fitzgerald&mid=B59DD3B513D51E8A4A0FB59DD3B513D51E8A4A0F&view=detail&FORM=VIRE2
